1. Open the AI Resume Coach beside the document
Open a resume in the Resume Builder and select the robot launcher in the bottom-right corner. The AI Resume Coach slides in from the right and compresses the workspace, so the resume, editor panel, and top actions remain available instead of being hidden behind a floating chat window.
The opening actions include Review Resume, Tailor to a Job Post, Polish Summary, Tune Skills, and a role-specific Bullet Assistant when a Work Experience role is available. You can also type a request or use the microphone. The coach keeps the chat history and current resume context together for the thread.
Open the robot
Use the bottom-right launcher while the resume you want reviewed is active.
Choose Review Resume
Run the structured review against the resume currently open in the editor.

2. Use the review panel as a diagnosis, not a score-chasing game
Review Resume returns an overall score and component feedback for areas such as evidence, clarity, relevance, readability, completeness, and ATS compatibility. It also organizes strengths, warnings, fixes, and opportunities so you can distinguish what is already working from what needs action.
Open the resume beside the review and verify each point. If feedback says a bullet lacks evidence, add the real scope or outcome. If it identifies a missing requirement, decide whether that experience exists before inserting language. The coach knows the visible resume, but it cannot know facts you never supplied.
The blunt versionThe value is not the number at the top of the review. It is the ability to move from a specific diagnosis to the exact field or specialist workflow that can fix it.
3. Ask for small direct edits and inspect what changed before moving on
Use plain instructions for contained work: shorten the Summary, correct a contact field, remove a duplicate skill, show or hide a section, move a section between columns, reorder roles, rename a section, or delete a clearly identified entry. The coach can work with text, lists, typed contact fields, built-in and custom sections, and timeline items.
After a direct change, the chat displays removed lines in red and added lines in green. Use Undo from the same thread when the change is wrong. The system verifies that an operation actually changed the resume before presenting it as successful, and Work Experience bullet edits target the exact role rather than a generic section-wide guess.

- Check names, dates, metrics, tools, and ownership in every rewritten line.
- Use Undo immediately when a direct change removes useful nuance.
- Keep broad rewrites in the specialist assistants where options remain selectable.
4. Let the coach carry the context into the stronger specialist workflow
Choose Polish Summary to open the Professional Summary Assistant, Tune Skills to open Skills Assistant, or a named role action to open the Bullet Assistant for that exact Work Experience entry. Tailor to a Job Post opens the comparison workflow; if you included a full description in the chat, the coach can load it into the Paste tab. Translate Resume opens the language selector, while Templates, Design, and Layout open their matching controls.
